Grade X1 heavy block has the same extremely low carbon (typically less than .008% carbon), and low manganese (typically less than .15% manganese) as Grade U-CP and Grade U. Like Grade U thin plate and Grade U cut plate, it is an excellent source of iron units for the production of all stainless steel grades especially type L grades in air and vacuum melt induction furnaces. Grade X-1's standard size is 4” x 5” x 8” but can also be supplied in smaller blocks. Grade X- 1 heavy block provides excellent coupling in induction furnaces to improve melting efficiency and reduce melt times. Like Grade U cut plate, Grade X-1's's chemistry is heat certified. Also Grade X-1 can be supplied shot blasted if required.
